Increasing the energy efficiency of your house not only benefits the environment, it also saves you money. SEAI Grants can ease the financial burden if you’re thinking of upgrading your home with wall insulation, attic insulation, heating controls, or renewable energy installations. Here’s an easy-to-follow application guide.
1. Check Eligibility
- Your home must be built and occupied before specific dates (e.g., pre‑2011)
- Use a BER (Building Energy Rating) assessment to confirm eligibility.
2. Explore Which Grants You Can Claim
SEAI offers grants for a range of upgrades, including:
- Attic insulation: €800–€1,500
- Cavity wall insulation: €700–€1,700
- Internal/external wall insulation: up to €8,000
- Heating controls: €700
- Heat pumps, solar thermal, and PV systems

3. Decide How to Apply
A. Individual Application
- You select contractors, oversee the project, and apply for the funding on your own.
- This is a good option if you want to be hands-on with the process and manage it yourself.
B. One‑Stop Shop
- We handle everything: assessments, grant application, project management, contractor coordination, and BER follow-up.
- Upfront deduction of grant value from costs, and often access to additional funding (€2,000 for project management, €350 for assessments, etc.).
- Ideal for a seamless experience with a single point of contact.
4. How It Works: Grant Management In 6 Simple Steps
- Home Energy Assessment
We make arrangements for a certified surveyor to evaluate your house and plan out the upgrades to get it up to a B2 BER rating. - Grant Application
EnviroBead handles all SEAI grant applications and deducts the approved amount from your upfront costs. No paperwork, just sit back and relax and we handle it! - Project Management
We manage and oversee the entire upgrade process, ensuring every stage meets the highest quality standards. - Contractor Works
One of our trusted, SEAI-approved contractors is assigned to complete the energy efficiency upgrades on your home. - Follow-Up BER Assessment
After works are complete, a certified BER Assessor carries out a post-works evaluation and issues your updated BER certificate. - Finance Options
Flexible finance solutions are available through our trusted partners to help spread the cost of your home upgrade.
All of this is managed by Envirobead to make it as hassle free an experience as possible.
Tips for a Smooth Process
- Keep your MPRN from your electricity bill handy. It’s required for applying.
- Check prior grants: homes previously funded for a measure aren’t eligible again.
- Planning permission: not usually needed for internal or cavity insulation, but it may be for external wall insulation in protected areas or for buildings which are older, such as Georgian houses in Dublin.
